Vice President of Environmental, Health, and Safety Laura Behrer recognized as a "Rising Star" for advancing safety excellence in energy storage

Convergent Energy and Power (Convergent), a leading provider of energy storage solutions in North America, today announced that its Vice President of Environmental, Health, and Safety, Laura Behrer, has been named a finalist for the 2026 Platts Global Energy Awards in the "Rising Star Individual" category. Behrer was recognized for her leadership in translating safety priorities into practical, scalable solutions across Convergent's growing energy storage portfolio.

Companies and individuals from at least 36 countries have been selected as finalists for the Platts Global Energy Awards program, now in its 28th year as the industry’s premier recognition event. The 2026 finalists were recently announced by program host and organizer S&P Global Energy, the leading independent provider of information, data, analysis, and benchmark prices for the energy, petrochemicals, metals, shipping, commodities, and energy transition markets.

"In a rapidly evolving energy landscape where energy storage has become critical infrastructure and safety expectations continue to rise, Laura stands out as a leader who ensures innovation and growth are matched by accountability and operational excellence," said Johannes Rittershausen, Co-CEO of Convergent. "She has dedicated her career to advancing safety and sustainability, and we are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of her impact on our company, our systems, and the communities we serve."

With more than 19 years of experience in construction and renewable energy, Behrer is a leader in advancing safety, sustainability, and operational excellence. In her role at Convergent, she leads safety strategy across the company's battery energy storage portfolio, driving proactive risk management, emergency preparedness, and safety-by-design practices. Her leadership has strengthened safety culture throughout the organization and helped ensure the safe, reliable delivery of critical energy infrastructure. A dedicated mentor and advocate for workforce development, Behrer is committed to building the next generation of safety-focused energy professionals.

“The energy industry continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, requiring resilience, strategic vision, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. This year’s finalists have distinguished themselves through exceptional leadership, technological advancement, and operational excellence. Their achievements demonstrate how innovation is driving progress across global energy markets, and we are honored to recognize them through the 2026 Platts Global Energy Awards,” said Simon Marshall, Head of Energy Conferences, Training & Strategic Media, S&P Global Energy.
