Oregon’s Longview Ranch Commemorates Restoration of River House

Longview Ranch, located along Central Oregon’s historic Route 19 in Kimberly, maintains 30,000 stunning acres of diverse landscape.

Oregon’s Longview Ranch is commemorating the two year anniversary of its team restoring a home that was nearly a century old. The River House, nestled along Oregon's John Day River, was built by the same designer of the home at John Day River State Park, the famous Cant Ranch house.

The River House was built on dirt with no foundation, leading it to sink more than eight inches with rotting floors. The Longview Ranch owners considered tearing down the house, but ultimately leaned into their commitment to restoration and maintaining the historic elements of the property. The Longview Ranch team jacked the River House up, section-by-section, replacing infrastructure and refreshing paint. The home is now a cozy guest house that will survive for years to come.
