Highlands Ranch, CO, 2025 Nature Summer Camp | Open Enrollment Announced

Balance Adventure Camp offers a unique outdoor curriculum to keep Colorado kids ages 6 to 11 occupied and engaged and off their screens, all summer long.

-- With summer just weeks away, Balance Adventure Camp is now accepting sign-ups for its 2025 season. Its nature-based, outdoor programs in Castle Rock and Highlands Ranch, Colorado, offer a confidence-building curriculum that helps kids ages 6 to 11 unplug and connect.

The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry estimates that children ages 8 to 12 spend an average of 4 to 6 hours on screens each day. Prolonged screen use has been linked to sleep disruptions, lower academic performance, and reduced social interaction.

Counteracting digital overload, Balance Adventure Camp emphasizes hands-on learning, creative arts, and active play, all rooted in the camp’s signature L.E.A.F. Method: Leadership, Exploration, Adventure, and Friendship.

“Our program gives kids a chance to disconnect from devices and reconnect with themselves, each other, and the natural world,” said a spokesperson for Balance Adventure Camp. “We see campers leave with stronger self-esteem, better teamwork skills, and real friendships formed through shared adventure.”

Guided by certified outdoor educators, campers engage in a variety of activities aimed at fostering personal growth:

- explore nature through hiking, fishing, and canoeing;

- learn self-expression through visual arts and music, enhancing creativity and cultural appreciation.;

- participate in interactive learning sessions focused on environmental education, alongside structured team-building challenges that teach them to solve problems together.

A family-owned-and-operated camp, Balance Adventure is designed with working parents in mind, providing reliable childcare Monday through Friday with structured drop-off and pick-up at 8:00 a.m. and 4 p.m. The staff meets Colorado State licensing standards, with team members certified in First Aid and CPR. Campers are welcome to join for a week or for the whole summer.

“We treat each child as if they were our own,” says a camp representative. “Our local roots give us intimate knowledge of the natural areas we explore, allowing us to provide authentic experiences while maintaining the highest safety standards.”

Enrollment is now open and space is limited. Interested parties can find out more here: https://camp.balanceschools.com/
