Antech™, a global veterinary diagnostics company, today announced the launch of RapidRead Dental for Feline, an AI-powered dental radiograph analysis solution built specifically for cats, and the addition of SDMA testing to its in-house diagnostic platform, Element i+. Both innovations will be spotlighted at the 2026 Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX).

RapidRead™ Dental for Feline: Expanding AI-Powered Dentistry

First launched for canine in May 2025, Antech RapidRead™ Dental is an AI-powered radiology interpretation tool that delivers accurate dental radiograph evaluations in less than five minutes. Most importantly, this new technology was created specifically for feline dentistry, rather than adapted from training with canine radiographs.

The offering makes accurate dental assessments more accessible, whether in support of routine preventive care to identify problems before they become painful or more accurate assessment of tooth resorption—one of the most painful and common dental diseases in cats.

Many veterinarians struggle with feline dental radiographs due to the small size of feline teeth, the high prevalence of tooth resorption, and limited access to dental specialists. RapidRead Dental for Feline supports clinicians in generating expert-level analysis and visual reports within minutes. The solution supports in-procedure decision-making, builds confidence with annotated findings, and enhances client communication by providing clear, professional reports that help pet owners understand their cat’s dental health and treatment needs. Features like automatic charting save practitioners time to focus on care and expanding the number of patients they can support, enhancing workflow efficiency.

SDMA Testing Now Available on Element i+

Clinics can now leverage Antech’s in-house Element i+ for reliable, immediate and more sensitive assessment of kidney function, supporting care pathways to maintain kidney health. Its seamless integration into in-clinic workflows enhances comprehensive preventive care for dogs and cats.

SDMA is a sensitive biomarker that enables close monitoring of kidney function in dogs and cats, helping veterinarians track changes in response to patient interventions for conditions such as hypovolemia, cardiac disease, hyperthyroidism, and more. While SDMA testing has traditionally been available through Antech’s Reference Laboratories, its addition to the Element i+ platform marks an expansion of Antech’s in-house diagnostics portfolio with quantitative results in less than 3 minutes.

Jimmy Barr, DVM, DACVECC, Chief Medical Officer for Mars Petcare’s Science & Diagnostics division and Antech, said:

“We exist to make every veterinarian’s day run smoother and more efficiently, whether it’s providing greater confidence with imaging, increasing throughput in the dental suite, or delivering immediate insights into kidney function. We are committed to continuously evolving our portfolio to deliver flexible, accessible solutions that optimize workflows and empower veterinary professionals to make clinical decisions with speed and certainty, supporting better outcomes across every aspect of care.”
