McGraw Hill introduces Teacher Assistant, a curriculum-embedded GenAI tool that provides lesson planning support to save educators valuable time, while expanding Writing Assistant nationwide to help students strengthen their writing skills.
Curriculum-integrated features include Teacher Assistant, a new GenAI-powered chatbot that provides educators with instant guidance to streamline lesson planning, as well as Writing Assistant, a GenAI tool that recently rolled out nationwide to provide students with on-demand support in the writing process.
“Built directly into McGraw Hill’s digital learning solutions, these tools reflect our thoughtful approach to using AI in the classroom,” said Jana Thompson, Chief Product Officer for McGraw Hill K-12. “Following a successful pilot, we're excited to bring Writing Assistant to classrooms everywhere after seeing how it can help students become stronger, more confident writers, while also introducing Teacher Assistant to lighten the load for educators and help them take advantage of all of the resources and support that we're able to offer through our curriculum."
Teacher Assistant
Teacher Assistant is a new embedded GenAI tool that provides educators with instructional planning support to help them personalize learning while saving valuable classroom time.
Teachers can prompt the chatbot to help plan units, summarize lessons or support pacing adjustments. The tool also helps educators quickly find resources and materials available within their McGraw Hill program, empowering them to make informed instructional decisions to meet diverse student needs.
Teacher Assistant’s AI capabilities will soon be further enhanced to allow educators to better interpret student data and inform instructional decisions.
Teacher Assistant is now available within McGraw Hill’s California Reveal Math curriculum, with a broader national rollout and integration into additional K-12 math and literacy products scheduled for next year.
Writing Assistant
Writing Assistant is an embedded GenAI tool for grades 6-12 that allows learners to ask for assistance with their short-form writing assignments and receive personalized support and guidance throughout the writing process.
This easy-to-use tool engages students and helps them break down the task and refine writing skills through continuous revision and feedback aligned to the text and scoring rubric.
Writing Assistant also optimizes instructional time for teachers by helping streamline feedback, reduce administrative workload and enhance overall classroom efficiency.
Initially introduced on a limited basis in the fall of 2024, Writing Assistant is now available nationwide within McGraw Hill’s Actively Learn and Achieve3000 Literacy programs, further enhancing the interactive features of these digital learning solutions that provide differentiated, standards-aligned content to help students improve reading comprehension and literacy skills. Writing Assistant will be integrated into future K-12 literacy products as well.
These tools are the latest examples of McGraw Hill’s long-standing approach to using AI responsibly to enhance teaching and learning. In a recent survey of K-12 teachers and administrators commissioned by McGraw Hill and conducted by Morning Consult, McGraw Hill was ranked as the education company using AI most effectively in their products.
“Our AI approach is highly effective because it is grounded in a deep understanding of how students learn and educators teach,” said David Cortese, Chief Digital Information Officer at McGraw Hill. “By integrating AI tools within well-designed learning experiences that leverage our trusted content and data, we’re able to supercharge our ability to provide solutions that adapt to each student's unique needs and drive deeper engagement, while also assisting educators so they have more time to focus on teaching.”
