Goodwill Caravan has launched an urgent Gaza appeal as its Cairo refugee centre faces increased demand from displaced families.

According to UNRWA, over 90% of Gaza's population has been displaced since the outbreak of conflict. Between March and April 2025 alone, more than 430,000 additional people were uprooted. These figures surpass the scale of the 2014 displacement crisis, which affected approximately 500,000 people. The organisation's Cairo operations now assist thousands of displaced families from both Gaza and Sudan, where 8.4 million people have fled violence since April 2023.
Goodwill Caravan's Salaam Centre has seen a surge in demand as thousands of displaced individuals arrive in need of support. Services include emergency food distribution, medical assistance, shelter support, and mental health programs, such as play therapy for children traumatised by war.
To address urgent needs, Goodwill Caravan provides donation options for core services. A monthly food parcel costs £10 per family; £100 covers rent and basic living expenses for a month. Psychosocial support for children is available at £250 for a three-month program, while legal aid helps refugees manage asylum processes and access long-term services such as education and employment.
"We see families arriving at our centre every day with nothing but hope for safety and a better future," said a spokesperson. "Our appeal targets both immediate relief and long-term stability for displaced communities."
The charity also runs anti-trafficking programs for orphans, unaccompanied children, and at-risk families. Through legal protection, vocational training, and psychosocial care, the organisation helps integrate vulnerable populations into Egyptian society as they await resettlement.
