According to a 2024 IPC report, about 14.6 million people in Bangladesh experienced high levels of acute food insecurity between February and March 2024, including over 300,000 people in IPC Phase 4 (Emergency). As such, Lotus Ministry Trust prioritizes impoverished districts often overlooked by mainstream charities, such as Kurigram and Gaibandha.
Lotus Ministry Trust centers vegetarian meals in its food relief initiatives, taking into account cultural alignment and regional food preferences. The focus on plant-based meals like Kichri are also a practical choice, allowing for higher levels of nutrition and the ability to serve a larger number of people at a lower cost.
