The results of the research reveal a significant security gap and dangerous overconfidence in how SMBs manage employee access. The findings show that 87% of SMB leaders admit they cannot immediately verify which employees have access to each company’s permissions. In connection with that, the same number also confirmed they fail to promptly revoke former employees’ access when they leave, exposing a significant and overlooked vulnerability in their security posture.

Even more concerning is the fact that nearly 90% of the surveyed SMB organizations suspected or discovered that former employees still had access to company applications after leaving the company, often long after their departure.
