Editorial: No End to Turbulence in Sight for the Technical Textiles Industry - ResearchAndMarkets.com

The "Editorial: No End to Turbulence in Sight for the Technical Textiles Industry" report from Textiles Intelligence Ltd. has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering.

Technical textiles manufacturers are facing unprecedented pressures in 2022

Most of these became evident during 2020 and 2021 - due largely, but not entirely, to the COVID-19 pandemic - and since then they have been exacerbated. Among the pressures are the introduction of the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and crippling supply chain issues. In addition, there have been sharp rises in the costs of logistics and transportation - whether by ship, road or air.

Aligned with these have been continuing rises in the costs of energy and prices of raw materials for making synthetic fibres derived from oil. In response, several industry leaders have been obliged to implement cost control measures while others have acted to pass on their own price increases and introduced across-the-board price hikes. In this report, Robin Anson examines the lasting implications of the pressures facing the technical textiles industry and the responses of four of the industry's leaders, namely Autoliv, BASF, Indorama Mobility Group, and IVL Hygiene Group.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Introduction
  • Indorama Mobility Group: Prices of All Industrial Fibres and Fabrics Increased
  • Basf: Automotive-Related Businesses Negatively Impacted by Higher Prices of Raw Materials and Increased Energy and Logistics Costs

  • IVL Hygiene Group: Prices Increased in Response To Unprecedented Hikes in Costs of Additives, Finishes, Packaging Materials, Energy, Freight and Wages
