NTT DATA Named A Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality

The company received top marks in the Human Rights Campaign’s Annual Assessment of LGBTQ+ Workplace Equality

NTT DATA Services, a digital business and IT services leader, today announced it has received a 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) 2022 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) and was named a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality. The HRC publishes the CEI annually as a national benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices and benefits pertinent to the LGBTQ+ community.

“At NTT DATA, we believe that diverse perspectives lead to a stronger culture, more innovative ideas and better services,” said Bob Pryor, Chief Executive Officer at NTT DATA Services. “I’m proud of our team and company in scoring a 100 on our first time applying, which reflects our longstanding commitment to ensuring that NTT DATA’s policies and benefits advance equality for and inclusion of LGBTQ+ team members and their families.”

NTT DATA’s policies and practices align with the four pillars established by HRC as part of their rating criteria:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities
  • Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families
  • Supporting an inclusive culture
  • Corporate social responsibility

“As part of creating an inclusive culture, we’ve established seven Employee Resource Groups including PRIDE, which provides a space for LGBTQ+ employees and allies to promote equality through education, advocacy, empowerment and representation,” said Terri Hatcher, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer for NTT DATA Services. “We will continue to create programs, policies and education that promote a supportive culture for all of our colleagues so everyone can be their authentic selves at work.”

As a sign of substantive progress toward LGBTQ+ equality, NTT DATA was recognized as a Gold Award recipient (top level) in the Pride Index 2020, which rates Japanese company initiatives related to the LGBTQ+ community. The company also joined the Business Coalition for the Equality Act in June of 2021. Learn more about NTT DATA’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion here.

“When the Human Rights Campaign Foundation created the Corporate Equality Index 20 years ago, we dreamed that LGBTQ+ workers—from the factory floor to corporate headquarters, in big cities and small towns—could have access to the policies and benefits needed to thrive and live life authentically,” said Jay Brown, Human Rights Campaign Senior Vice President of Programs, Research and Training. “We are proud that the Corporate Equality Index paved the way to that reality for countless LGBTQ+ workers in America and abroad. But there is still more to do, which is why we are raising the bar yet again to create more equitable workplaces and a better tomorrow for LGBTQ+ workers everywhere.”

The CEI rates employers providing crucial protections to over 20 million U.S. workers and an additional 18 million abroad. You may also access the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s full 2022 report online at www.hrc.org/cei.
