UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / December 29, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Jeremy B. Utt for excellence in public education as a teacher. Mr. Utt is recognized for nearly two decades of service to students in Virginia's public schools. He has made long-standing contributions as a mathematics educator, mentor and a longtime sponsor of leadership-focused student organizations.

Family Legacy Inspires a Career in the Classroom
"I've had several family members involved in education since the 1880s," Mr. Utt says. His mother worked in several roles at Powhatan Elementary School, including as a kindergarten assistant, instructional assistant for third grade, remedial math assistant and Title 1 assistant. His paternal grandmother, who began her career in a one-room schoolhouse, taught third grade for most of her career. Other relatives taught in both public and private schools, with one great-great-grandfather serving as an early teacher in the Virginia free public schools after the Civil War.
Since beginning his career in 2006, Mr. Utt has taught in Isle of Wight County Schools, Hampton City Schools and Stafford County Public Schools. He has worked at both the middle and high school levels, primarily teaching mathematics. He currently serves as a faculty member in the Stafford County Public Schools, where he has taught since 2015. He currently teaches Algebra 1 and Honors Geometry at T. Benton Gayle Middle School.
In addition to his classroom responsibilities, Mr. Utt has spent most of his career sponsoring student organizations. He sponsors the school's Junior Beta Club, which he founded, and serves as a chapter adviser for the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). His dual involvement reflects a career dedicated to giving students opportunities to grow academically and personally through service and leadership. "Throughout most of my career, I've either been a Junior Beta sponsor or an NJHS chapter adviser, or both at the same time," he remarks.
Academic and Professional Achievements
Mr. Utt holds a Bachelor of Arts in government and public policy and a Master of Arts in Education from William & Mary. In 2018, he earned an Education Specialist degree in educational leadership from Old Dominion University. Additionally, he is a National Board Certified Teacher in early adolescent mathematics, which he considers the highlight of his career due to its prestigious status.
Mr. Utt's professional involvement includes membership in the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa and several academic honor societies. He also helped to reestablish the Virginia Alpha chapter of Pi Gamma Mu at William & Mary in 2006.
Several industry organizations have recognized Mr. Utt's contributions to the teaching profession. In 2006, he received the Meritorious New Teacher Candidate Designation. Additionally, he was the recipient of the Kappa Delta Pi Teacher of Honor Award in 2010, the Phi Delta Kappa Distinguished Educator honor in 2019 and the Kappa Delta Pi Master Teacher of Honor Award in 2021.
An Ongoing Passion for Education
Mr. Utt aims to continue teaching while he considers pursuing a Doctor of Education in gifted education leadership. He also expresses interest in a future central office coordinator or director role. However, he remains dedicated to classroom instruction and is committed to providing students with both academic instruction and opportunities to grow as leaders.
Mr. Utt makes a point of advising the next generation of educators. He encourages them to stay current in content and pedagogical knowledge, adapt to curriculum and leadership changes, and avoid workplace controversies and politics. "I've devoted my life and career to the education of others, striving to make a positive difference in their lives," he says. "I've made my share of mistakes, but I've always striven to provide education and opportunities for other people."
