Synergy Heals has announced a Zakat-eligible donation drive to fund community wells and village water systems in Guinea, expanding the nonprofit's 2027 Ramadan clean water mission for underserved Muslim communities.

-- Synergy Heals has announced a Zakat-eligible campaign to fund community wells and long-term village water systems for underserved Muslim communities in Guinea. The effort is part of the organization's broader 2027 Ramadan Water Mission, which aims to expand clean water access in rural areas where many families continue to rely on unsafe sources for daily needs.

The announcement comes amid ongoing water insecurity affecting millions across sub-Saharan Africa. UNICEF and the World Health Organization report that over 400 million people in the region still lack access to safely managed drinking water. In Guinea, many rural families must travel long distances to collect unsafe water, increasing their risk of waterborne diseases, economic hardship, and missed educational opportunities. Research also indicates that Zakat-based giving models can serve as a long-term tool for improving public health, community resilience, and economic stability in underserved communities — aligning religious charity with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Synergy Heals explained that the initiative is structured specifically to meet Islamic giving requirements, with 100 percent of Zakat-designated funds used exclusively for eligible water projects. Donations support the construction of community wells, village water systems, and on-the-ground implementation and monitoring designed to provide reliable, clean water access for vulnerable Muslim communities throughout Guinea.
"Clean water protects health, dignity, and daily life," a Synergy Heals spokesperson said. "Through Zakat, this initiative helps communities gain reliable water access where it's needed most."
The organization noted that mosques and Zakat committees can sponsor comprehensive water projects for entire villages. A contribution of $10,000 to $12,000 funds a community well, while $15,000 to $20,000 supports a complete village water system. Masjids also have the option to dedicate projects in their name as part of ongoing Zakat and sadaqah initiatives. Synergy Heals provides donors with photo and video documentation, GPS-verified project locations, quarterly progress updates, and annual Zakat reports to ensure transparency on implementation and community impact.
