Developer Tanya Ragan Launches Written Series Reflecting on Decades of Community-Based Work Across North Texas

Tanya Ragan has launched a multi-part written series tracing the early relationships and on‑the‑ground work that shaped her involvement across North Texas. The first installment returns to her early years in Mansfield and the people whose history and stewardship informed her approach to community‑focused development.

-- Tanya Ragan, President of Wildcat Management, has launched a multi-part written series reflecting on her long-term work across North Texas, including Mansfield and Dallas. The series highlights more than two decades of experience working within communities, building relationships with landowners and residents, and learning how people and places shape responsible real estate decisions.

The first installment The Mansfield Series – Part 1 titled “Before There Was a Plan, There Was a Place, now live on Medium peels back the curtain on Ragan’s work in the Mansfield area beginning in the early 2000s, the story opens not with groundbreakings or blueprints, but with muddy boots, kitchen table conversations, and mineral lease assemblies across Johnson, Denton, and Tarrant County.

That work involved years of in-person meetings, site visits, and continued engagement with families who had lived on and cared for the land for generations. Those relationships helped shape Ragan’s understanding of the land and the communities connected to it.

The series began with Part 1, which highlighted longtime Mansfield resident and educator Brenda Norwood and her enduring connection to the community. Part 2, released this week, reflects on longtime rancher Bud and the years spent learning from his firsthand knowledge of the land. Together, the early installments introduce the people who shaped Ragan’s long-term familiarity with the area.

Over time, Ragan’s work expanded into broader redevelopment efforts across Dallas throughout the 2010’s, including the Farmers Market District, the Government District, the West End District, and other downtown neighborhoods. Those projects were shaped through collaboration with property owners, businesses, community stakeholders, and public partners, reflecting an approach centered on patience, preparation, and sustained investment.

Future installments in the series will continue to highlight individuals connected to the projects and land, including longtime rancher Bud Ford, whose decades of experience working the property contributed to Ragan’s understanding of its history and use. Additional installments will also reflect on Ragan’s work in North Texas and Minnesota, as well as her broader philosophy on placemaking and community-based real estate development.

“This series reflects years of work across multiple communities,” said Ragan. “It highlights the people, places, and experiences that shaped how I approach responsible development.”

The multi-written series shares Ragan’s long-term involvement across North Texas communities and the relationships that have influenced her work over time.
