LOS ANGELES - May 28, 2026 - MatchData.ai today launched a self-service tool that reconciles messy spreadsheets and CSV files — matching duplicate, mislabeled, and incomplete records — while running the matching itself inside the user’s web browser. Finance, accounting, and operations teams can match fragmented records without reconciliation software that requires setup, scripting, or a consultant, and without sending their full datasets to an outside server.
The product splits the work deliberately. The heavy computation — testing the many possible combinations that produce a match — runs in the browser on the user’s own machine, and numeric values, including sensitive financial amounts, never leave it. The only data that can leave is text, and only when matching is imprecise enough to need it: short text values are sent to OpenAI’s API to resolve fuzzy matches, such as deciding whether “Acme Corp.” and “ACME Corporation” are the same entity. A full row is never transmitted, every text value sent is recorded in an exported workbook, and MatchData.ai retains no uploaded data.
“Think of it as a zipper for your data — it brings two frayed edges together tooth by tooth,” said Douglas Schiller, Founder of MatchData.ai. “Operational data almost never arrives clean, and the combinations that produce a correct match can run into the billions. We do that math on your own machine and only lean on AI for the judgment calls, like whether two differently spelled company names are the same.”
One early customer — a credit card program serving an affinity group — uses MatchData.ai to reconcile merchant-processing refunds, recorded by hand, against the processor’s transaction file. A single refund may correspond to an unknown combination of many transactions: even a 30-transaction file implies more than a billion possible subsets to check, and larger files run into the tens of billions. The tool uses heuristics to narrow that search so it runs in the browser in a practical amount of time, with match rates exceeding 95 percent. The company argues the real barrier is practical — even smaller cases a spreadsheet could handle require custom macro code that solves one problem at a time, and the bookkeepers and operations staff who do this work rarely have the programming skills to build it. The same approach applies to data-migration validation, where records must be matched across systems that label the same fields differently.
MatchData.ai also supports accounts payable and receivable matching, vendor and customer normalization, duplicate detection, and audit preparation, including multilingual and internationally formatted records.
About MatchData.ai
MatchData.ai develops browser-based software for matching, reconciling, and normalizing records across spreadsheets and exported business data. The matching computation runs locally in the browser, with AI applied selectively to interpret columns and resolve fuzzy text, an approach designed for teams that need accurate reconciliation without surrendering control of their data.
