The law firm of Federman & Sherwood has initiated an investigation into Catholic Diocese of Cleveland with respect to their recent data breach. On January 12, 2024, the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland detected an information security incident involving unauthorized access to one employee’s business email account. Upon learning this, the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland engaged a third-party forensic and incident response firm to conduct a thorough investigation into the scope and nature of the incident. Following the investigation, the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland determined that the contents of the email account were subject to access and acquisition by an unauthorized individual between December 14, 2023, and January 12, 2024. The information potentially obtained from the hacker includes the individuals’ name and Social Security number.
