Professional boxing rewards fighters who possess both physical ability and relentless determination. For undefeated rising prospect Omrie Lawrence, those qualities are shaping a promising start to his career.
With a professional record now standing at 3–0 after his February 21 victory, Lawrence is building momentum while maintaining a grounded perspective about the long road ahead.
“You need more than hard work to become successful,” he said.
Creating His Own Path
Growing up as the youngest in his family, Lawrence often felt he was standing in someone else’s shadow.
Boxing changed that.
“Being the baby of my family always felt like I was in someone’s shadow,” he explained. “With boxing I’m making my own lane.”
The sport has become a process of building something piece by piece.
“I don’t know exactly what I’m building yet,” he said. “But the bricks are being laid through knowledge and hard work.”
The Mindset of a Fighter
Before every fight, Lawrence prepares mentally by trusting his training and his team.
“I trust my training and my coach, and I pray.”
Once the fight becomes official, he eliminates doubt entirely.
“I put my mind in a state of no return.”
That mindset allows him to compete without hesitation.
A Demanding Training Schedule
Preparing for fights requires a rigorous routine.
Lawrence’s training week often includes technical mitt work, conditioning, sparring sessions, strength training, explosive workouts, and heavy bag drills.
“My sparring partners bring out different levels of my fight game,” he said.
Currently, he is focused on improving two key aspects of his skillset.
“My footwork and my jab.”
Fighting for the Fans
When asked what type of fights he hopes to be known for, Lawrence answers with a single word.
“Entertaining.”
For him, boxing is about giving fans something worth watching.
“If people see my name on a fight card, I want them to know it’s going to be a good night of boxing.”
Life Beyond the Ring
While the ring demands aggression, Lawrence approaches life outside of boxing with a different mindset.
“Inside the ring I’m trying to hurt my opponent,” he said. “Outside I’m trying to be a better dad and partner for my fiancée.”
That balance helps define who he is beyond the sport.
The Business Side of Boxing
Lawrence also recognizes the importance of personal branding in the modern fight game.
“A fighter might only fight four times a year,” he said. “So you can’t leave everything to those four days.”
Promoting himself consistently through social media and public visibility has become part of the job.
He also wants potential partners and sponsors to view him as something valuable.
“A good investment.”
An Endless Drive
Even with a perfect record, Lawrence says his motivation remains strong.
“Success. I feel like I have an empty stomach at an endless buffet.”
And with the confidence of a fighter who believes his best performances are still ahead, his message is simple.
“This is only the beginning,” he said. “I’m still hungry.”
