The 1st Global Technology Innovation Competition Launches in Hangzhou, China

On July 22, the 1st Global Technology Innovation Competition officially launched in Hangzhou, China, under the theme “Global Innovation, Zhejiang Synergy.”

As the first international technology competition of its kind hosted by Zhejiang Province, the event aims to accelerate innovation-driven development and promote deeper integration of innovation across scientific, technological, and industrial sectors.

Designed to attract top global talent and cutting-edge technological projects, the competition is expected to boost innovation, entrepreneurship, and industrial transformation throughout the region. Zhejiang aspires to position itself as a world-class hub for science and technology, and as a launchpad for global innovation and commercialization.

To ensure the event is future-oriented, professional, and fair, the organizing committee has established the Zhejiang Expert Committee on Industries of the Future. The committee comprises 188 leading experts from academia, business, and investment, including 18 academicians.

The competition features four tracks, each supported by local governments offering tailored incentive policies.

For the humanoid robotics track, Hangzhou High-Tech Zone (Binjiang) offers up to 20 million yuan in support, including R&D subsidies, financing incentives, and talent cultivation through its “5050 Plan.” For the biomanufacturing track, Xiaoshan District has introduced the “5213 Plan,” providing up to 4.5 million yuan, complemented by 1.5 million yuan in validation funding and shared lab access from the ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center. For the AI and eye health track, Longwan District of Wenzhou offers up to 6.4 million yuan in comprehensive support,

with additional pharmaceutical R&D incentives and nearly 100 million yuan in funding for talent programs. In the aerospace track hosted in Zhuji City, winning projects will gain direct entry into Shaoxing’s Talent Program (Category A), with up to 20 million yuan in supporting funds and full loan interest subsidies for two years.

To further enhance financial support for emerging industries, Caitong Securities, Bank of Communications, China Zheshang Bank, and other financial institutions have formed the Fund Alliance for Industries of the Future. This alliance offers 3 billion yuan in corporate credit, 500 million RMB in personal startup loans, and supports high-quality cross-border financing. A one-stop financial service system is also being developed to connect capital, resources, and expertise across the innovation chain.

The competition will run for approximately four months. Registration is open on the official platform at https://zj87.jxt.zj.gov.cn/qqjscxds/ until September 30. Preliminary project reviews will be conducted in October, followed by final contests across the four tracks in November. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony in Hangzhou.

The organizing committee warmly welcomes global technology innovators to participate and compete at the forefront of science and technology.
