Richardson Electronics Launches New Engineer-Focused Web Site

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) announced today the launch of its redesigned corporate website, www.rell.com, aimed at serving the global community of RF, Microwave and Power Conversion engineers. In developing the new site, Richardson Electronics worked closely with the industry’s leading suppliers for today’s important applications to provide online resources designed to help engineers improve time to market for new products, locate alternative solutions, save development costs, reduce risk and improve design performance.

“Our goal is to offer world-class Internet-based tools to strengthen our position as a global expert and primary resource for the relevant products and services within our core market segments,” stated Greg Peloquin, Executive Vice President and General Manager, RF, Wireless & Power Division.

“Prior to embarking on this project, we surveyed our global customer base to find out what types and sources of product information were most useful to them, which search and navigation tools they like using best, how they used our web site, and the features and tools we could add to improve it. The new site has been designed by engineers for engineers,” added Peloquin.

The site’s unique Engineer-Focused Navigation™ system was developed in response to customer feedback. It provides information in context of each user’s interest, making it easier and quicker for users to navigate to the best product for their need. Our Engineer-Focused Navigation™ system allows users to start at a high level and dig deeper into the four primary content areas: Products, Applications, Industries and Services. Suggestions or links to the other areas are included on each page, interrelating them throughout the site.

“We have made it easier for customers to find information and purchase products. We currently feature over 75,000 part numbers online and will continue to add new parts every month,” added Peloquin. “We have vastly improved our parametric searching, technical assistance and online shopping capabilities.”

Online Shopping improvements make it easy for customers to log in, buy available items, request quotes, check status of all orders (whether placed online or offline), and save items for later purchase. The site’s Design Resource Center offers a variety of helpful design tools and technical documents intended to provide engineers with practical, real-time design assistance.

To help customers compare and select the right part for their requirements, each product category allows users to narrow their choices using parametric searching and sorting. They can add filters to search criteria, compare parameters by sorting, or match “must have” attributes (e.g., package size, frequency, power, supply voltage). Part Detail pages offer in-depth product specifications, relevant documents and downloadable information, as well as particulars on pricing and availability.

Part Detail pages also include links to the product’s supplier storefront, where users can access all products available from the supplier, documents and downloads related to the supplier and its products, a list of the countries and regions their products are franchised, and a link to the supplier’s web site.

The company’s multi-million dollar investment in building the completely new web site is supported by Richardson Electronics’ worldwide technical sales and product management organization and reinforces the company’s position as a global leader in bringing RF, Wireless and Power Conversion products to market. As part of its global focus, the new web site offers users easy access to Local Sales Support through an interactive map in the site’s Contact Us section. Users select their country or region on the map to locate contact information for the Richardson Electronics sales representatives nearest them. Also available on the web site are individual “home” pages for each country in which the company operates local sales offices. These pages contain useful information detailing local design support, key markets, and operations for over 25 countries.
