Aisha Dawn first burst on the music scene as a fresh faced teenager, bringing a young female perspective to the forefront of Zimbabwe’s male dominated reggae and dancehall culture.

Harare, Zimbabwe Jun 18, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Zimbabwean Afro-Fusion artist Aisha Dawn's new video "Ignite" premiered today. The music video was shot at a Burnout, which is an African car spinning culture, a unique form of motor drifting that started in South Africa. By depicting an intriguing facet of her roots, Aisha takes listeners to a world very much like "Fast and Furious" set against the backdrop of Harare, Zimbabwe. "Ignite" builds onto a project that includes other records such as: 'Baby Boy' (2009), 'Hold You' (2015), 'Meant To Be' (2015), 'Ready' (2015), and several others. It is part of a collection of unreleased songs slated to be released this year. It was directed by Baba Manamike and styled by Harare fashion designer the Minister of White Linen.

An eclectic and inspiring singer-songwriter, Aisha Dawn has sculpted a unique afro-fused musical presence of positive vibes in the wide-ranging genres of Reggae, Afro Pop, and Dancehall. With the release of her flaming hot new track, "Ignite", the artist is breaking all boundaries between her and success and delivering the best of her genre.

"Ignite" portrays a dynamic mix of English and Shona (Zimbabwe's local language).  A colourful and passionate track, "Ignite" is a song that aims to empower listeners and assure them that their time and chance, too, will come soon and all their woes will vanish. Just one part of an unreleased collection of songs, "Ignite" forms a celebration of progress, motivating listeners to always believe in the light within them, no matter what trials and tribulations cast a shadow on their lives. It is an affirmation that the world needs to ignite back from the darkness of the past two years and focus on the light.

The artist's previous rich musical roster includes tracks such as "Careless", which traverses the genres of Afro Pop and Reggae and features a collaboration with popular award-winning Dancehall star Nutty O. Like "Ignite" the track stays true to Aisha Dawn's carefree, fun, and ebullient musical ethos.

"This song means so much to me. For me, it's a song of empowerment and inspiration. This is my love letter to the dreamers, hustling every day to make a life," says the artist regarding her new release. With each new track, Aisha Dawn intends to work towards releasing a catalogue of singles whilst curating an original full-length debut album.

About:

Aisha Dawn first burst on the music scene as a fresh-faced teenager, bringing a young female perspective to the forefront of Zimbabwe's male-dominated reggae and dancehall culture.

It could be said that Aisha Dawn was born on the path of music. One look at her background and anyone would agree. Her father is acclaimed Zimbabwean Reggae Icon, ManSoulJah; her mother Lillian is his dynamic backing vocalist; her cousins are folk musician, Nehoreka and acclaimed producer DJ Tamuka. There is no question as to Aisha's involvement in music, it was pre-destined, you could say. The question was how she would make her mark.

From the very beginning, Aisha kicked the doors down, completely undeterred by the male-dominated scene that permeated reggae and dancehall culture. If anything, it was a challenge to be bested. Early in her career, her powerful voice and intricate writing skills were recognized both on and off the stage. At the age of just seven, she won the Chibuku Road to Fame, a distinguished music competition, and later joined her father as his backing vocalist, all while excelling in school. By the age of 15, her first official single was "Baby Boy".

From that release, her journey was set. Taking influence from artists such as ManSoulJah, Bob Marley, and Lauren Hill to Rihanna, Prince, Bruno Mars, and more, it was her persistence, self-loving attitude, and her deeply-rooted love of music that distinguished her from the rest. By fusing those influences and her love of reggae, dancehall, and afro-pop, Aisha Dawn cemented her space in the scene with her own style of Afro-Fusion.

In 2015, she collaborated with Zimbabwe's then-emerging producers DJ Tamuka and Oskid and released three hits in succession, "Ready", "Hold You", and "Meant To Be", garnering monumental radio airplay. The success doesn't stop there.

Recently, Aisha released two singles "Careless" and "Ignite", continuing her evolution and staying rooted in her passions. "Ignite" is particularly special to Aisha. A celebration of progress and the reverence of trials and tribulations, it is dedicated to those whose fire never burns out. Perhaps, this song is one that she herself may have needed during her journey in music.

"This song means so much to me. For me, it's a song of staying true to your path. This is my love letter to the dreamers, hustling every day to make a life," says the artist regarding her new release. With each new track, Aisha Dawn intends to work towards releasing a catalogue of singles whilst curating an original full-length debut album."
