AM Best to Lead Innovation-Focused Session at Farm Bureau Commercial Conference

AM Best will present a session focused on innovation in the commercial lines insurance segment at the 2021 Farm Bureau Commercial Conference, which takes place April 7-9, 2021.

In March 2020, AM Best formally integrated its criteria procedure, “Scoring and Assessing Innovation,” into its rating process, which outlines how AM Best explicitly will consider an insurance company’s innovation efforts. Joseph A. Burtone, director, will lead the presentation, titled, “Innovation in the Commercial World,” which will look at commercial lines insurers’ efforts on harnessing emerging technologies, as well as updating products, processes or services. The session will take place April 7 at 12:20 p.m. (EDT). Burtone has worked for decades in the insurance industry, with more than 20 years’ experience at AM Best. He is responsible for managing a team of rating analysts, covering property/casualty insurance companies in the United States, including farm bureau companies, mutual insurers and regional writers.

Farm bureaus generally focus on a niche market of farmers, ranchers and agriculture-affiliated individuals/business in rural areas or small cities. The online conference is themed as “Igniting Commercial,” and includes panel sessions on loss control, underwriting and claims and talent management.
