Lawson Software Announces Partnership with Huron Consulting Group

Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) today announced a new partnership with Huron Consulting Group (Nasdaq:HURN) to more effectively deliver Lawson Grant Management and Lawson Business Intelligence solutions. The partnership will initially focus on healthcare organizations, but the two companies will also target other grant-intensive industries, such as public services and education.

Lawson Grant Management is designed to help organizations improve management of their overall grant programs and grant resources. It helps centralize and secure grant information to help administer, track and report on grant activities, while contributing to reduced costs by automating system-wide grant processes. In addition, by allowing organizations to share grant data with other enterprise software systems such as finance, human resources and procurement, Lawson Grant Management can further safeguard overall grant funding.

Many organizations today, including those in healthcare, public services and education, are becoming increasingly reliant on grant revenue, but the competition for grants makes it more difficult to obtain these needed funds, said Brian Sterrett, vice president of channels and partners for Lawson. Its becoming much more critical to have a solid grant management strategy and a technology solution with business intelligence capabilities to back it up. Lawson and Huron Consulting Group can deliver the technology and expertise to help organizations be more successful and build upon best practices to effectively manage grants.

Huron Consulting Group is focused on helping its customers address a variety of complex challenges. The company serves many Fortune 500 companies and organizations, including 80 of the top 100 leading academic institutions and healthcare organizations. Under the partnership with Lawson, Huron will help customers realize strategic value from effective grant management and business intelligence solutions.

Among the customers to benefit from the partnership between Lawson and Huron Consulting Group is Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, rated as the best pediatric hospital in the United States by Child Magazine and U.S. News & World Report. The hospital conducts more than $100 million in externally sponsored research each year. In 2007, the hospital implemented Lawson Grant Management, combining the expertise Huron offered with the functionality that Lawson provided through its solution. Huron and Lawson worked closely with Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia so the implementation would support the hospitals business objectives and functionality requirements.

Given the inherent complexity of research institutions, there is much attention focused on the strategic management of grant activities, said Matthew Staman, managing director, Huron Consulting Group. By teaming with Lawson, Huron can deliver our industry expertise, combined with the industry-specific functionality of the Lawson solution, to help organizations not only gain better control over their grant processes, but to help them become much more strategic and successful in this competitive arena.
