New Acquisition Expands Pennsylvania American Water’s Roster of Wastewater Operations

Pennsylvania American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), announced today the acquisition of a municipal wastewater system in Adams County in southcentral Pennsylvania. The purchase price of the newly acquired system is approximately $340,000.

Pennsylvania American Water acquired the wastewater assets of the Hamiltonban Township Authority, which serves approximately 150 people and a number of commercial and industrial customers. The system is adjacent to the wastewater operation that Pennsylvania American Water acquired from the Franklin Township Municipal Sewer Authority in August 2013.

The transaction marks Pennsylvania American Water's fourth acquisition this year, including its purchase of a municipal wastewater system from the Paint-Elk Joint Sewer Authority in Clarion County in July. The company’s wastewater footprint comprises operations in Adams, Beaver, Chester, Clarion, Monroe, Pike and Washington counties.
