What Happened?

Shares of industrial components supplier NN (NASDAQ: NNBR) jumped 16% in the morning session after the company raised its full-year 2026 guidance ranges for net sales and adjusted EBITDA.

According to a company press release, NN reported strong second-quarter results, with revenue reaching $128.7 million, a 19.3% year-over-year increase that comfortably beat analyst estimates of $116.1 million by 10.9%. The bottom line was exceptionally strong, as adjusted earnings of $0.11 per share crushed the $0.01 Wall Street consensus estimate. Profitability improved significantly during the quarter, with the company flipping its operating margin to a positive 0.8% from negative 1.4% a year ago. This operational leverage helped drive adjusted EBITDA to $17.94 million (a 13.9% margin), beating expectations by a massive 29%.

Furthermore, the company demonstrated excellent cash conversion, generating $15.19 million in free cash flow, a stark improvement from a cash burn of $4.42 million in the prior-year period. Looking ahead, management lifted its full-year revenue guidance to a midpoint of $465 million (up from $460 million) to reflect the underlying momentum. They also set their full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance at a midpoint of $60 million, coming in well ahead of the $56.5 million analyst consensus. The robust top- and bottom-line beats, coupled with the raised financial outlook and strong free cash flow generation, signaled solid operational execution and bolstered investor confidence in the company's trajectory.

What Is The Market Telling Us

NN’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 61 moves greater than 5% over the last year. But moves this big are rare even for NN and indicate this news significantly impacted the market’s perception of the business.

The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 5 months ago when the stock gained 29.2% on the news that the company raised its full-year guidance for new business wins and announced that preliminary first-quarter net sales were expected to show growth. This update followed the securing of approximately $43 million in new business awards during the first quarter, primarily from the electric grid and data center markets. Based on this strong performance, NN lifted its 2026 new business wins guidance to a range of $80 million to $90 million. While the company maintained its full-year net sales guidance of $445 million to $465 million, it noted that it now expected results to fall in the upper half of that range.

NN is up 190% since the beginning of the year, and at $3.89 per share, it is trading close to its 52-week high of $4.11 from August 2026. Despite the year-to-date gain, investors who bought $1,000 worth of NN’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $745.68.
