Chevron maintains 2009 capital spending at nearly $23 billion

Chevron Corp. plans to commit $22.8 billion to capital projects in 2009, unchanged from what it spent last year, as the No. 2 U.S. energy company moves to ensure future production in spite of lower oil prices.
