Indian Visa Online Simplifies Requirements for Passport, Photo and Document to get Indian Visa

India Visa Online is a portal that makes obtaining an Indian visa quick, simple and easy.

The Indian government has implemented electronic travel authorisation, or e-Visa for India, which allows travelers from 180 countries to enter the country without having their passports physically stamped.

Since 2014, travelers from outside India have not needed to get a traditional paper Indian visa in order to enter the country, sparing them the hassle. The Indian visa may now be purchased online without visiting an Indian embassy or consulate.

The e-Visa for India is not only the quickest method to visit India, but it is also the simplest way to apply for a visa online.

Indian Visa Passport Requirements

An Ordinary Passport is required for an Indian e-Visa.

To be eligible for an Indian e-Visa, you must upload an electronic or scanned copy of your passport, regardless of the type of e-Visa you are asking for.

According to the Indian Visa Passport Requirements, this must be an ordinary or regular passport, not an official or diplomatic passport, a refugee passport, or any other type of travel document. Before uploading a copy, make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date of your admission into India. The Government of India has authorized this India Visa Passport Validity.

If your passport does not fulfill the India Visa Passport Validity requirement, which is at least 6 months from the visitor's date of entrance into India, you must renew it before submitting your application. You should also ensure that your passport has two blank pages, which will not be visible online but will be required by border authorities at the airport to stamp entry/exit

If you already have an Indian e-Visa that is still valid but your Passport has expired, you can apply for a new Passport and travel with both the old and new Passports. Alternatively, you can use the new Passport to apply for a new Indian Visa (e-Visa India).

Indian Visa Photo Requirements

The e-Visa for India may be issued quickly provided you fulfill all of the qualifying criteria and document requirements outlined by the Indian government. A soft copy of a passport-style photograph of the visitor's face is one of the papers that must be supplied with the application. This visitor's face photograph is necessary in the application of all Indian e-Visas, regardless of whether you are applying for the Tourist e-Visa for India, the Business e-Visa for India, the Medical e-Visa for India, or the Medical Attendant e-Visa for India. This tutorial will assist you in determining all of the India Visa picture criteria. Once you understand all of the Indian Visa picture criteria, you can quickly apply for the Indian e-Visa online, without having to visit the local Indian Embassy in your country.

  • The photo needs to be passport style.

  • The photo needs to be clear and not blurry and it should clearly identify the visitor with the entirety of their face and its features, hair, and any marks on the skin visible in the photo. If the visitor wears a turban, head scarf, Hijab, burqua, or any other head covering due to religious reasons, they just need to make sure the head covering does not hide their face, chin, and hairline. The visitor should be easily identified from the photo which the Immigration Officer on the border would do.

  • The photo needs to be at least 350 pixel by 350 pixel in height and width. It needs to be at least this size. And the visitor’s face should cover 50-60% area in the photo and be in the middle of the frame. Ears, necks, and shoulders should also be visible except in the case of head coverings worn for religious reasons.

  • The default India Visa passport photo size is 1 Mb or 1 Megabyte, which means that the photo of your face that you upload on your Indian Visa application cannot be more than 1 Mb. You can check whether the size of your photo meets the India Visa passport photo size required by the Visa application on your computer or PC by right clicking on the picture, clicking on Properties, and checking the Size in the General tab in the window that opens up.

  • Do not wear any accessories such as hats or sunshades in the photo. You can wear your glasses or spectacles in the photo that you upload but ideally you should upload a photo without them so that there is no reflection on your eyes or the flash does not conceal your eyes. Otherwise you might be asked to re-upload the photo and there is a possibility that your application might be rejected on the Immigration Officers’ discretion. But if you do decide to wear your glasses or spectacles, however, make sure there is no glare or reflection on them as your eyes should be clearly visible in the photograph.

  • The face photograph should be taken in the Portrait mode rather than in the Landscape mode, the light in the photo should be uniform and there should be no dark shadows, the color of the photograph should be normal without any coloured tones, and you shouldn’t use any editing software on the photo.

  • The background in the photo should be plain and simple and the clothes that you wear in the photograph should also be plain without any complex patterns or bold colors.

  • The photo should not have anyone else in the background.

  • The view of your face should be the frontal view, not the side view or profile view, and your eyes should be completely open in the photo, not even half shut, and mouth closed. Make sure your hair is tucked back and all features of your face are clearly visible.

  • The soft copy of this face photograph that you upload should be a JPG, PNG, or PDF file.

Indian Visa Document Requirements

Since the Government of India made electronic or e-Visas available for overseas visitors to enter India, doing so has become a simple and convenient job. All you need to do is fulfill the Indian e Visa eligibility standards for the Indian e-Visa and have all of the paperwork ready to submit in order to apply for and acquire the Indian e-Visa. Some of the documentation that must be presented for all types of Indian e-Visas are listed below. There are also e-Visa specific paperwork, which means that different types of e-Visas, such as the Indian Tourist e-Visa, Indian Business e-Visa, Indian Medical e-Visa, and Indian Medical Attendant e-Visa, all require different documents based on the nature of your journey to India.

To begin with, in order to start the application process for the Indian Visa you need to have the following documents required for Indian Visa:

  • An electronic or scanned copy of the first (biographical) page of the visitor’s passport, which must be the standard Passport, and which must remain valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into India, otherwise you would need to renew your passport.

  • A copy of the visitor’s recent passport-style color photo (only of the face, and it can be taken with a phone), a working email address, and a debit card or a credit card for the payment of the application fees.

  • A return or onward ticket out of the country.

Apart from having ready these documents required for Indian Visa you should also remember that it’s important to fill in the Indian e-Visa Application Form for the Indian e-Visa with the exact same information that is shown on your passport which you will be using to travel to India and which would be linked to your Indian Visa. Please note that if your passport has a middle name, you should include that in the Indian e-Visa online form on this website. The Government of India requires that your name must match exactly in your Indian e-Visa application as per your passport. This includes:

  • Full name, including First name/Given name, Middle Name, Family name/Surname.

  • Date of Birth

  • Place of birth

  • Address, where you reside currently

  • Passport number, exactly as shown in passport

  • Nationality, as per your passport, not where you are currently living

Aside from these standard Indian Visa paperwork, there are other document requirements particular to the type of e-Visa you are asking for, which will depend on the reason for your visit and the purpose of your visit. These include the Tourist e-Visa for tourism and sightseeing, the Business e-Visa for business and commerce, and the Medical e-Visa and Medical Attendant e-Visa for medical treatment and accompanying the patient receiving medical treatment in India.

If you are coming to India for the purposes of tourism and sightseeing, you should apply for the Tourist e-Visa for India, for which apart from the general Indian Visa documents required you might be asked for proof of being in possession of sufficient money to fund your trip to and stay in India.
