Recently, BOC Sciences updated its product list of fluorescent probes and fluorescent dyes.

New York, USA – March 5, 2021 – Fluorescent probes, as a tool marker molecule, play a key role in biological detection and diagnosis. Recently, BOC Sciences updated its product list of fluorescent probes and fluorescent dyes to better serve related customers.

With the continuous improvement of clinical requirements for disease diagnosis, some traditional detection methods are gradually unable to meet the detection needs, especially for tumor diagnosis. Among many detection methods, fluorescent probes, as powerful tools for analytical sensing and optical imaging, can directly visualize biological analytes at the molecular level and provide useful information for the detection of complex biological structures and processes. Various biomarkers in cells, such as DNA, RNA and biological enzymes, can be detected by fluorescent probes.

The following fluorescent probes and dyes provided by BOC Sciences can be used in life science research and diagnosis:

Cell and organelle stains

Cells have structures such as nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, mitochondria, Golgi, and lysosomes. By using cell and organelle stains, the distribution of these structures in the cell can be clearly observed, so as to facilitate the study of their functions.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) probes

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) has a mediating role in cell life, stress and death, and different concentrations of ROS play a completely different role in it. Therefore, it is important to monitor the ROS molecules in the cell. ROS fluorescent probes are generally sensitive to oxidants and are non-fluorescent before being oxidized by oxygen. Most of these probes are oxidized through a single-electron free radical mechanism to produce non-fluorescent free radical intermediates and fluorescent products.

Nucleic acid stains

Fluorescent stains are one of the most commonly used tracer tools for studying nucleic acids. Fluorescent nucleic acid stains can specifically bind to nucleic acids and change their luminescence properties, and have the advantages of high sensitivity, strong specificity and simple staining procedures. The most commonly used applications of nucleic acid stains in molecular biology are electrophoretic gel staining and quantitative PCR. After DNA electrophoresis, the nucleic acid needs to be stained to develop a band pattern.

Fluorescent enzyme substrates

Enzyme-labeled fluorescence measurement is based on the conversion of specific substrates into corresponding fluorescent precipitates by enzymes. Such substrates are called fluorescent substrates because they can be cleaved under the action of enzymes and produce fluorescent precipitate. This precipitate can be detected by a fluorescence microscope in a highly sensitive manner. The enzyme substrate, that is, the substrate recognized by the enzyme, has been conveniently used in cell biology assays and can be used to detect enzyme activity in cells and solutions.

pH indicators

Changes in the pH value of the cell environment may cause cell dysfunction and induce diseases. Fluorescent indicators that are sensitive to pH have been widely used to monitor changes in intracellular pH. Normally, the pH value inside the cell varies between cell compartments. When choosing a pH indicator, the acidity coefficient (pKa) should match the pH of the experimental system.

Laser Dyes

Laser dye is a kind of fluorescent dye used in dye lasers, which can produce tunable laser light when excited by a light source. Dye lasers can use different laser dyes to produce lasers of different wavelengths. Laser dyes can be used for uranium enrichment, optical amplifiers, and disease diagnosis and treatment.
