Sebastian holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and Bachelor of Arts Degree (History) from The University of Michigan. While attending school, he interned with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. Upon graduation, Sebastian was admitted to the Michigan Bar as a licensed attorney in 2009, then admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2010, and to the Eastern District of Michigan Federal Court in 2020.
In 2008 a study was published that the Marcellus Shale could contain more than 500 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and Sebastian was right in the middle of the shale at the start of the boom. In 2010 he joined Western Land Services (WLS) as a Project Manager in the Appalachian region, overseeing title and due diligence projects, leasing plays, and right-of-way acquisitions for both gathering and transmission systems.
In 2018, Sebastian was promoted to the Director of the Midcontinent Region for WLS, overseeing the acquisition of a boutique brokerage house in Duncan, Oklahoma, and managing the newly merged staff in the Oklahoma City office. In 2019, Sebastian was promoted again, being named the Director of Legal and was the General Counsel for the entire WLS organization, a move that relocated him back to Michigan.
In 2020, Sebastian left WLS to engage in a widely diversified private practice, including general litigation; natural resources law, including real estate, oil, gas and lignite; trusts, probate and estate planning.
