Transformative Google Search App, Results Previewer, Acquired

COLUMBUS, Ohio - November 9, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

Results Previewer, a transformative Google-search app (founded by Jesse Rowe and Tom Linnemann) was acquired by a Minneapolis-based marketing firm late last month.

The Google Chrome extension has been featured in publications like Fast Company, Lifehacker, and Product Hunt and has changed Google search experiences for many.

Since launching in April of 2019, Results Previewer has accumulated over 15,000 weekly-active users, generating over 10M page views. Laying underneath the hood of Results Previewer is an ad-engine similar to many ad campaign display networks.

“You search. You see links. You roll the dice with a click,” explained Linnemann, “maybe it’s what you’re looking for; maybe it’s not. That’s the hitch we wanted to solve with Results Previewer from Day 1.”

“I created Results Previewer as a quick fix for myself but after some peer pressure, decided to release it to the public.” said Rowe “It's a no-brainer that Google search will eventually evolve to have a similar UX but only time will tell.”

Rowe and Linnemann run a micro-startup studio called Sharkrow Labs and focus on a variety of projects ranging from BetOnWeather.io to Goodbye Handles.

Excerpt about Results Previewer from Fast Company:

“Google took over the world with a search bar, and a long list of blue links beneath it. Google Search has changed significantly over the years – most notably, searches now autocomplete before you can finish typing, and sometimes, Google will just list your answer to a simple query rather than making you click into a site. But the fundamental UI hasn’t changed.

But a plugin from Jesse Rowe, who leads marketing at software review company G2 in his day job, radically reimagines the process of Google Search. Called Google Results Previewer which allows you to hover over any search result and get a preview of the site to your right. It ostensibly turns search from a one-panel view to a two-panel view. And it tackles one of the most annoying problems in web browsing, nurturing all those tabs.

“I’m a well-known tabaholic to the point where my friends have been worried about my browsing habits (tabs on tabs). I noticed that a lot of the tabs I was creating were from Google search results and ultimately originated from not being able to find the right web page when searching,” explains Rowe.

The plugin took Rowe a weekend to create, and it’s designed with more subtlety than you might expect. Hovering over a result pops up a small window with a site preview. If you want to take a closer look, you then hover over that small window, and it expands to display the page as an overlay. Imagine how handy this would be for finding reliable medical information. Pseudoscience sites also appear right beside the WebMDs of the world. This quick preview would help."
