High-Performing Students Earn Pennsylvania American Water’s 2019 “Stream Of Learning” Scholarships

Pennsylvania American Water today announced that 10 students across Pennsylvania have been selected to receive $1,000 scholarships through its Stream of Learning scholarship program. Now in the program’s 10th year, Pennsylvania American Water offers scholarships to support outstanding students from its service areas who are charting a course of study critical to the water and wastewater industry.

A panel of judges selected the winners from more than approximately 50 scholarship applicants, evaluating them on criteria including academic achievement, community service, career aspirations in the water and wastewater industry and letters of recommendation.

“We are proud to reward these accomplished and ambitious students with our Stream of Learning Scholarships, and we hope they each can build successful careers in the industry while becoming our commonwealth’s next generation of environmental leaders,” said Pennsylvania American Water President Jeffrey McIntyre.

Pennsylvania American Water awarded its 2019 Stream of Learning Scholarships to:

  • Katherine Bowser of Lincoln High School (Lawrence County)
  • Ian Chaudhari of Peters Township High School (Washington County)
  • Hannah Chop of Canon-McMillan High School (Washington County)
  • Brandon Feltman of Milton Area Senior High School (Northumberland County)

“The water and wastewater industry desperately needs to continue attracting extraordinary young people to the field to keep up with the growing demands of building and maintaining critical infrastructure, protecting the environment, and developing new technologies to operate efficiently and keep up with increasingly stringent regulations,” McIntyre continued. “We are pleased to help some of our best and brightest local students with their first years of college, and we hope they will think of us again in their future professions.”
