Executive Chef Sung Park Brings His Unique Korean-French Fusion Small Plates - Featuring Southern, Soul-Food Influences - to New York City's West Village.

Owner/Partners Chef de Cuisine Cesar Jimenez (formerly of Jean-Georges), COO James Park, and managing partner Noel Shu announced they will be hosting the formal grand opening of their new 70-seat restaurant, Windrose, today – Friday, April 5th at its West Village location at 39 Downing Street from 5pm to 2am.
At Windrose, fans of the Korean cuisine will be able to enjoy an eclectic, French and Southern-US influenced menu that offers sharing-plate entrees such as Kimchi Seafood Gumbo, Smoked Kentucky Fried Chicken and Steak Bibimap. The cocktail menu will showcase drinks made with Makgeolli, an unfiltered rice alcohol, as well as a wide selection of global craft beers – some faring from Russia and Korea.
To expertly prepare these dishes, the management team has tapped Executive Chef Sung Park (formerly of Bistro Petit, Jean-Georges, and Brasserie Seoul) to bring his signature Korean-French fusion small plates to their new bistro.
“Windrose is unique in that it features Korean-influenced small plates passionately prepared using French techniques and Southern soul food flavors,” said Chef de Cuisine, Cesar Jimenez. “With the venue itself, we’ve created a low-key, informal space for people to socialize, laugh and explore new, unique and comforting tastes.”
Windrose, named after the compass rose that depicts true north on a nautical map, is located at 39 Downing Street in Manhattan’s West Village. The venue seats 70 and has a separate private function room. The restaurant is taking over the space formerly occupied by Mas Farmhouse.
