Toy of the Year Finalist, What The Film?! Is The First Film Industry Focused Toy or Game to Be a Finalist in Over a Decade

Hurricane Irma inspired the creation of Target exclusive party game What The Film?! now a finalist for The Toy Association's 2019 Toy of the Year.
ORLANDO, Fla. - Nov. 12, 2018 - PRLog -- The Toy Association announced the 2019 Toy of the Year Awards finalists and among those finalists for Toy of the Year, Rookie of the Year and People's Choice Award is the Target exclusive party game, What The Film?! from newcomer Lethal Chicken Games.

This is the first time in 13 years that a toy or game with a film or television industry focus has been a finalist for Toy of the Year.  The last one was Scene It and the only other one before that was a Steven Spielberg LEGO set.

"Mike Szalajko and I officially started this company earlier this year and to see it go from an idea while helping with Hurricane Irma cleanup, to becoming a Target exclusive to now being a finalist for Toy of the Year is beyond what we even dreamt when we first started this," said Alex Mackey, Co-owner of Lethal Chicken Games.

What The Film?! is a party game where players combine an ACTOR, PLOT and SET card to create and pitch a movie.  Players vote on their favorite movie idea and try to earn points with the most votes or via Hollywood style backstabbing.  At the end of six rounds, the person with the most points wins.

Known as the "Oscars" of the toy industry, the Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards are presented annually to the top toys, games and properties of the year.  Winners are announced February 15, 2019 kicking off the 116thNorth American International Toy Fair in New York.

After playing What The Film?! for the first time Dr. Judy, co-host of Face The Truth said, "I think it's just an out-of-the-box way to get to know your friends and what their brain is like when they think about movies. This game is fun and makes you get creative really fast."

"I've done video production for the past 15 years and to bring the film and TV industry together with the toy and game industry seem like such a natural fit," Mackey said.  "There are so many mind-blowing IPs that deserve transmedia storytelling, we're hoping What The Film?! is the catalyst to bring innovative IPs to the board game platform."

What The Film?! is available exclusively at Target and Target.com.
