TEDxTemecula 2018 Conference Is All About Absurdity

By: PRLog
The Valley comes together to share ideas (the more absurd, the better) at the seventh annual local production of world-renowned TEDx conference
TEMECULA, Calif. - May 7, 2018 - PRLog -- Organizers at TEDxTemecula, an independently organized TEDx event, announced today that this year's annual conference returns to the Old Town Temecula Community Theater on September 29, 2018. For the seventh consecutive year, the conference brings together the brightest minds of our community for a one-day conference to share ideas on health, education, technology, the arts, and more.

This year's theme for the conference invites attendees to look at these issues through a unique lens: "Absurdity."

"When we explore our world, a lot of what we find could be considered absurd," said Jim McLaughlin, Organizer, TEDxTemecula. "This year, we're inviting our community to seek out the absurdity around us and see what we can learn, together."

The TEDxTemecula mission is to bring together the valley's brightest thinkers, performers, and visionaries to explore what's possible in the community and beyond. The annual event is a four-hour live presentation showcasing artists, musicians, innovators, and thought leaders. The talks are filmed and posted to the TEDx YouTube channel for the world to see.

Last year, seven local speakers presented thought-provoking talks to a full house at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater.

"The speakers were diverse, authentic, inspiring, and worthy of our attention," said an attendee from last year.

Another TEDxTemecula attendee said: "I was blown away by the local inspiration here in my own community!"

"Each year, we aim to create an unforgettable event where the audience can experience, discover, explore, and celebrate the exciting innovation happening in our backyard," said McLaughlin.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or fewer) delivered by today's leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED's annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, and made available, free, on TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Monica Lewinsky, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

TED's open and free initiatives for spreading ideas include TED.com, where new TED Talk videos are posted daily; the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from thousands of volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed; the annual million-dollar TED Prize, which funds exceptional individuals with a "wish," or idea, to create change in the world; TEDx, which provides licenses to thousands of individuals and groups who host local, self-organized TED-style events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, which selects innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
