The educational book “The SPIRIT Method of Massage for Seniors: Raising the Bar” by Linda Mac Dougall was displayed by ReadersMagnet at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference and Exhibition from June 24-27, 2022, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C.

“The SPIRIT Method of Massage for Seniors” is both informative and inspiring. The author makes the readers more aware of the different parts of care and understand how it is to be a senior. Through this book, the readers will recognize the importance of connecting with someone and making a difference in their life.

Caring for the elderly may require many skills and natural abilities. The book emphasizes the relationship between the caregivers and the seniors, a relationship based on an appreciation for seniors. People are missing opportunities that may have a significant impact on the lives of others, including their own. Magical moments go unnoticed in the everyday grind because they just don't get enough attention.

This heartwarming and uplifting book helps readers become more mindful of what and who is in front of them so that they may give their best effort to the people they care about. To learn more about the book's details, visit the author's website at https://www.loveyourlongevity.com/.

Author
Linda is a holistic health practitioner, author, speaker, trainer/educator, and massage therapist specializing in seniors and the disabled. She brings decades of experience working with the developmentally disabled and mentally ill to now serving an aging population. These groups share similar issues.

Linda is a baby boomer herself. Insights have been gained from personal health issues and working with her clients. She has used the methods found for herself to help others. Observing and assessing attitudes, environments, and special needs is a key in her work.

As a massage therapy specialist, she can feel and see much of the body and bring attention to such things as suspicious moles, lumps, and the like. Massage therapists are one of the last professions to actually take the time to observe the skin, feet, posture, contractures, imbalances, and more that are often overlooked. She educates on canes, walkers, crutches, and wheelchairs for proper selection.

Her M.A. in Counseling Psychology increases the understanding of various challenges faced by maturing adults. Linda's unique vantage point comes from her experiences. She worked her way up from direct care worker to becoming an administrator of two group homes.

Then came her time as a federal advocate for Hawaii's developmentally disabled, where both she and Hawaii gained knowledge that served her clients even after she left. Other experiences included time being a mental health worker, teacher, and a teacher's aid at a state hospital.

Linda has partnered with Massage Inc., a rapidly expanding massage company, where her book will become mandatory reading for their therapists in 2022 and beyond. The Parkinson's Resource Organization (PRO) has also called on her skills and expertise to educate its membership in 2022. She writes for iPain magazine and PRO. And The National Holistic Institute, the largest and oldest chain of massage schools in California, has used her on Zoom training and promotes her book to their students.
