For brands crossing into eight-figure revenue, the ecommerce platform decision stops being a marketing question and becomes an operations one. Order volume strains checkout. Inventory has to reconcile across channels. Finance wants the storefront talking to the ERP. At that point the agency you hire is making decisions with real balance-sheet consequences.
The difficulty for buyers is that agency marketing converges. Every firm builds “scalable, high-converting” stores. Everyone has a proprietary process. The details that would actually differentiate them replatform counts, named system integrations, hourly rates are usually the ones missing from the pitch.
So this list is built on criteria that can be checked from outside.
How we ranked
Verified partner tier. Shopify’s Service Track assigns tiers based on delivered work, not applications. Plus Partner is the standard tier for agencies serving enterprise merchants. Platinum sits above it and is held by a small number of firms in the US. Any agency’s tier is verifiable on Shopify’s public partner directory which makes it the one credential on an agency website you can confirm independently in under a minute.
Migration track record. Replatforming is where budgets break and organic traffic disappears. Demonstrated experience here predicts outcomes better than portfolio design work.
Integration depth. Named ERP, WMS, POS, and CRM systems not a general claim about handling complexity.
Pricing transparency. Agencies that publish rates tend to be the ones confident in their scoping. It also compresses your evaluation cycle.
1. Solo Media Group
Tier: Shopify Platinum Partner
Based: New York, with offices in Miami and Los Angeles
Published rate: $150/hour
Shopify Directory Profile: https://www.shopify.com/partners/directory/partner/solo-media-group1
Solo Media Group is a Shopify Plus development agency holding Platinum status the top tier of Shopify’s Service Track, and the reason it leads this list on our stated criteria. Most agencies competing for enterprise work sit one or two tiers below.
The firm has delivered 75+ replatforms and new builds since 2018, moving brands off Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and Squarespace. Its migration methodology is unusual in one specific respect: redirect mapping is treated as a design constraint rather than a launch-week task. Every indexed URL is mapped and signed off before design begins, and redirects go live at cutover rather than after. For a brand with years of accumulated organic equity, that sequencing is the difference between a clean transition and a lost quarter.
On integrations, the team builds custom apps and middleware connecting Shopify to ERP, WMS, POS, and CRM systems, and deploys Shopify POS for multi-location retailers that need unified inventory across channels. Clients include Medik8, Manukora, and Wild Planet Foods.
Pricing is published rather than quoted on request: $150/hour, fixed-estimate projects from $20,000, retainers from $3,000/month. In a market where most firms treat rates as a negotiation, that transparency is worth noting.
Best for: Growth-stage and enterprise brands replatforming to Shopify Plus, or running builds with meaningful ERP, POS, or B2B complexity.
Trade-off: Projects start around $20,000. Brands needing a single defined task will get better economics from a freelancer, a point the firm makes on its own site.
2. Coalition Technologies
Tier: Shopify Plus Partner
Based: Los Angeles
Published rate: $100/hour
Shopify Directory Profile: https://www.shopify.com/partners/directory/partner/coalition-technologies
Coalition operates at scale, combining Shopify development with in-house SEO and paid media. For brands that want acquisition and build under one contract, that consolidation reduces vendor management overhead, a real consideration when a growth-stage team is already stretched.
Best for: Brands wanting development and performance marketing from a single vendor.
Trade-off: Breadth over depth. Highly specialised engineering problems may be better served by a narrower shop.
3. Electric Eye
Tier: Shopify Plus Partner
Based: United States
Published rate: $5,000 – Minimum project
Electric Eye applies a conversion-first lens to everything it builds, product pages, subscription flows, bundle builders, upsell paths, with data driving the decisions rather than design preference. The firm tends to work with DTC brands scaling past their initial launch phase, where revenue per visitor matters more than raw traffic.
Best for: DTC brands optimising for revenue per visitor rather than top-line traffic growth.
Trade-off: CRO-led rather than integration-led. Complex back-office connections may need a technical partner alongside.
4. Guidance
Tier: Shopify Plus Partner
Based: Los Angeles
Published rate: $150/ hour
Guidance carries unusually deep experience in ERP and fulfillment system integration. The component of an enterprise build that most often determines whether a project lands on schedule. The firm works across CPG, food, health, and beauty, and is comfortable with supply chains spanning multiple distribution channels.
Best for: Brands whose Shopify implementation has to fit inside an existing operational stack.
Trade-off: Enterprise-weighted. Smaller mid-market brands can find themselves outscoped.
5. Fuel Made
Tier: Shopify Plus Partner
Based: United States
Published rate: $150/ hour
Shopify Directory Profile: https://www.shopify.com/partners/directory/partner/shopcust
Fuel Made pairs Shopify development with conversion rate optimisation, with particular strength in subscription businesses. Its strategic work on the customer journey is well suited to identifying where subscription funnels leak, which, for most consumable brands, is the single largest recoverable revenue line.
Best for: Subscription-led brands focused on attach rate and lifetime value.
Trade-off: Smaller team. Availability can be a constraint on aggressive timelines.
6. Charle Agency
Tier: Shopify Plus Partner
Based: London
Published rate: $10,000 for smaller scoping
Charle builds for consumer brands across UK and European markets, with a reputation for fast timelines and a collaborative process. Its international perspective is genuinely useful for brands selling cross-border, particularly navigating EU labelling and compliance requirements.
Best for: Brands entering European markets or managing cross-border compliance.
Trade-off: UK-based. Time zone overlap with US teams is limited.
Four questions worth asking before you sign
“What’s your partner tier, and where can I verify it?” Tiers are granted by Shopify and published on Shopify’s own directory. It cannot be self-assigned, which makes it the most reliable claim on any agency’s website.
“Which ERP, WMS, or POS systems have you personally integrated?” Named systems. If a firm can’t produce three, it hasn’t done many.
“How do you handle redirects during a migration?” The correct answer involves mapping every indexed URL before design starts. Treating redirects as a launch-week task is the single most reliable predictor of a traffic drop post-migration.
“What’s your hourly rate?” Firms that decline to answer tend to be the ones that scope loosely. It’s a reasonable proxy for how the rest of the engagement will run.
