What Happened?
Shares of genomics company Pacific Biosciences of California (NASDAQ: PACB) jumped 9.9% in the afternoon session after EpiSign Inc. and Geneyx Genomex Ltd. announced a partnership to integrate genomic and epigenomic analysis for rare disease interpretation, incorporating data from PacBio HiFi sequencing.
The partnership combines DNA methylation episignature analysis with genomic and multi-omics capabilities to advance rare-disease interpretation. Through the agreement, EpiSign METRIC 5-base extends automated episignature analysis for over 300 disorders to Geneyx customers analyzing DNA methylation data produced by PacBio HiFi, Illumina 5-base, and Oxford Nanopore sequencing.
After the initial pop, the shares cooled down and closed the day at $2.88, up 15% from the previous close.

What Is The Market Telling Us
PacBio’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 87 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The previous big move we wrote about was 5 days ago when the stock gained 29.7% on the news that EpiSign announced the launch of EpiSign METRIC 5-base, enabling laboratories to analyze DNA methylation data on the company's HiFi sequencing platform. The software utilizes an automated classification framework covering over 300 episignature disorders.
In addition to PacBio HiFi, the platform allows laboratories to analyze DNA methylation data across Illumina 5-base and Oxford Nanopore sequencing platforms, expanding episignature analysis capabilities across multiple genome-sequencing systems.
PacBio is up 56.5% since the beginning of the year, and at $2.88 per share, it has set a new 52-week high. Despite the year-to-date gain, investors who bought $1,000 worth of PacBio’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $114.70.
