The figures come from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services contract year 2027 Rate Announcement, released April 6, 2026. The standard Part D deductible rises to $700 in 2027 from $615 in 2026, and the annual out-of-pocket cap on covered prescription drugs increases to $2,400 from $2,100. Cost changes are not limited to prescriptions. The standard Part B premium is $202.90 per month in 2026, up from $185.00 in 2025. The 2026 Medicare Trustees Report projects roughly $209.50 for 2027, though CMS does not confirm the official figure until November. Beneficiaries who compare only monthly premiums can miss the changes that matter more day to day: a dropped medication, a higher specialist copay, a smaller dental or over-the-counter allowance, or a hospital that has left the network.

The average beneficiary could choose among 32 Medicare Advantage prescription drug plans, down from 34 a year earlier, and KFF noted that the number of enrollees facing plan terminations increased for 2026.
