Synchrony Financial Receives Key Federal Reserve Approval

Approval is an important step toward Synchrony Financial’s planned separation from GE

STAMFORD, Conn.–  October 14, 2015  Synchrony Financial (NYSE: SYF) today announced that it has received approval from the Federal Reserve Board to become a standalone savings and loan holding company following the completion of General Electric Company’s (NYSE: GE) proposed exchange offer.   This approval represents a major step forward in Synchrony Financial becoming a fully independent company.  The next step is for GE to announce the proposed exchange offer in which GE will offer its shares of Synchrony Financial common stock in exchange for shares of GE common stock.

“This approval is a critical step in becoming a standalone business. The teams have done a tremendous job in preparing the business for separation, and I look forward to continuing to work with our teams toward that goal,” stated Margaret Keane, president and CEO of Synchrony Financial.
